| Name: Yoriyama Ruuji Nickname: Tokage no Ruuji – Ruuji of the Lizard, Kirigakure no Kiyoujin – Madman of the Hidden Mist Age: 33 Gender: Male Rank: S-rank missing-nin Former Rank: Jounin, member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist Village: None Former Village: Kirigakure no Sato Affiliations: Akatsuki Elements:Main: Katon – Fire ReleaseSubs: Doton – Earth ReleaseKekke Genkai: N/A Personality:Without doubt the most prominent part of Ruuji’s personality is his battle persona. Branded by many as a psychopath, wherever one can find war, battle and mass murder one can find Ruuji. Probably in the thick of battle maiming and killing as much enemies as possible, cackling all the way. Tokage no Ruuji loves the thrill of battle to an almost obsessive degree, becoming almost childishly enthusiastic when the battle is entertaining enough. His favorite method of killing enemies is by chocking them, as it allows him to feel the life escape his opponent’s body. He loves using his Fire Release techniques to burn things and people to a degree where it suggests pyromania. It is this side of him that has earned him the nickname “Madman of the Hidden Mist”. However, Ruuji’s love for battle has a deeper reason. Being raised in an orphanage and raised solely for war, he lacked parental love. His life was a cold, dull one consisting solely of studying, training, eating and sleeping with no real “goal” to look forward to. He himself describes it as barely even being alive. However, when as a genin Ruuji experienced his first battlefield, fighting for survival made him feel more alive than ever. This is perhaps the biggest reason why he loves to fight. In his eyes fights are tests for survival to separate the strong from the average crowd. And by engaging in such tests, by risking his life he wishes to confirm his existence. Ruuji is very nihilistic about everything, even his own life. Having no family, no real friends and no village left to fight for, everything the madman does is completely on a whim. He openly claims that since he has nothing to fight for he is as good as dead anyway. He is often very apathetic and neutral about the world and seems to view himself as an observer to other people’s lives and stories. He has taken a liking to following people around who he deems interesting enough seeing their stories develop. He compares this to “reading an interactive book” and because of his apathy has no problem “spicing up” the story a bit by allowing bad things to happen to the “characters of the story” for his own amusement. Or taunting them with sensitive things just to witness their reaction. His apathy does have its good points, as it makes it very easy for this individual to view people, situations and even himself from a completely neutral standpoint, without any prejudice. This makes it easy for him to point out faults in people’s logic or convictions, and he is not below lecturing allies and enemies alike when he notices things like that. Despite being obviously twisted and arguably insane, he does have a soft spot of sorts. He has a great deal of respect and sympathy for people with strong willpower who stay true to their ideals no matter what. Fearless as Ruuji might seem, there is one thing that he is afraid of. He seems to hold a strange fear of both aging and becoming handicapped. This is because his ability to fight is all he has, and in both scenario’s even that one thing he is good at would be taken from him. He has actually made it his goal to die at the hands of a truly worthy opponent before his body grows old and weak. However, Ruuji is smart enough to realize he is not normal by ordinary standards, and is aware that both his battle persona and his nihilistic view can easily cause most ordinary people to brand him “evil” or “insane.”Therefore, Ruuji manages to hide his twisted self pretty well behind the mask of a polite, if not a tad quirky man with a dry type of humor and a sophisticated way of speaking. He has a bit of a selective memory. Things he doesn’t care about go right though him, yet he can memorize even the slightest, most useless detail about things that interest him. Although not a loudmouth per se, he does have the habit of rambling about things he finds intriguing. This might happen even in situations where it is completely inappropriate. However, in spite of those quirks, one can say that for someone like him he is very skilled at hiding his true self. However, when it is not required to keep up a façade, Ruuji does sometimes enjoy discussing his twisted view on the world with others. This is mostly because he can argument his point of view well enough to silence most naysayers. Ruuji has a number of principals. He dislikes rudeness and often complains when people are showing behavior he deems as rude, such as interrupting others or using foul language. He describes this behavior as “distasteful” and “uncivilized”. Another principal is that he dislikes leaving a job half done. This is usually expressed through the fact that he hates leaving survivors after a victory, believing it to be the winners privilege to end the loser’s life. If he does find out he left a survivor, he will hunt that person and engage them in battle whenever he sees the chance. He claims to have no real grudges against the water country and indeed has never shown any evidence of spite towards his former village. However, ever since the village put him in jail and later labeled him as a monster with his new body, he has become much more cynical . He loves pointing out the faults and stupidity of both humans and the shinobi system and often jokes about the shinobi worlds true nature and even his own bloodthirstiness in a rather dark and twisted way. Ruuji also possesses a certain humbleness. Well, realism would be a better way to describe it. He is aware that he is a powerful shinobi, and will never deny it. However he has no qualms about admitting it when someone is stronger than him. In the end, Ruuji is a loner. Appearance: - Spoiler:
Ruuji is a man in his thirties with a gaunt face, a hooked nose and greenish-brow, chest-length hair. His hair usually falls over his back with a few bangs and strings falling over his face. His eyes are yellow and his skin color is slightly pale, giving him a serpentine appearance. His build is slim and athletic. He is rather tall, about 6 feet, giving him a rather gangly appearance. Experiments from the past has turned Ruuji into a freak of nature. He now possesses four arms, a serpentine tail about one and a half meters long and an extendable tongue much like Orochimaru. Knowing his body might give him unnecessary attention, he often hides his extra hands and tail by keeping them wrapped around his stomach, his Akatsuki cloak generally providing more than enough room to hide his monstrous appearance. Underneath his cloak, he typically goes bare-chested, with simple brown pants and typical shinobi sandals. He wears his old Kirigakure headband- with a stripe through it, around his neck. Bio: - Spoiler:
Academy: When he was only a few months old, Ruuji was left at an orphanage, since his mother was homeless and couldn’t care for him. Because Kirigakure was always in need of new shinobi , the Orphanage would send a few orphans with a healthy and good body, including Ruuji, were sent to the Academy to learn the way of the ninja. Every day after school had ended, Ruuji would watch many of his classmates being picked up by their loving parents. He envied those children, for he knew that after his lonely trip home, he would just be another kid at the orphanage, nothing special in anyones eyes. In order to block out the pain, Ruuji focused completely on his progress as a ninja, spending almost every speck of free time studying and practicing. This made him an outcast, since he never played with other children. Most of the students would simply leave him alone. He graduated the academy when he was thirteen, with one of the highest grades.
Genin: Now a genin, Ruuji was placed in a typical four-man team consisting of three genin and a jounin teacher. Ruuji was the strongest out of the three in terms of skill, but was often known to be uncaring towards his teammates. Ruuji, since he had never learned anything about love and friendship and the likes, he claimed that individual ability is all that counts. The other genin started to strongly dislike Ruuji, and the boy was once again an outcast. In the eyes of his sensei and the other adult-shinobi however, this was fine, as Kirigakure was known for its “survival of the fittest”- mentality.
When he was a genin, Ruuji went to his first battlefield. An old castle was reported to serve as a hideout for a large band of bandits now, and Ruuji’s team, along with a few other teams, were sent to deal with it. Kiri had severly underestimated the number of bandits, however, and although all of the jounin managed to stay unharmed, many genin had lost their lives. Ruuji, however, made it out alive simpy by focusing completely on combat and not caring about his teammates. Although many of the young genin were traumatized by the gruesome battle, for Ruuji it was the best thing ever. Having never felt “alive”, because of his grim life, the thrill of battle and the joy of combat made him feel more real than he ever felt before. This began his passion for combat and his bloodthirstiness. Although his jounin captain didn’t approve, saying Ruuji was too selfish to be considered a team captain, he was still promoted to chuunin at the age of 15, shortly after the battlefield.
Chuunin: During his Chuunin times, Ruuji met a person that had great influence on his philosophy. He was placed in a small special team consisting of three other chuunin. Two of the other chuunin were both rude and loudmouthed, nothing but talk. The other chuunin, a girl named Nanako, was a shy and quiet girl. She hardly spoke, and when she did it was usually accompanied by a lot of stuttering and blushing. During their first real battle against another chuunin team from an enemy country, Nanako showed her true self. What she lacked in talent, she made up for in will. The enemy chuunin were stronger then Ruuji’s team, and managed to overpower them at first. However, no matter how much the enemy chuunin would beat her up, she would continue to fight, eventually defeating one of the chuunin. As the other three were dumbfound, Ruuji and Nanako used their surprise to their advantage and finished the three while they were still wondering what the hell was going on. Seeing Nanako’s strong will, he started to respect her. As the two big talkers could do nothing but cower in fear against the superior enemies, this event triggered Ruuji’s belief that only during a fight ones true self would emerge. This made him think even higher of combat, viewing it as a test for mankind. He also came to respect strong-willed people in general.
Nanako gained Ruuji’s respect, and the two worked together flawlessly. Nanako in turn was fond of Ruuji for being the first person ever to respect her. The two became close friends, among the other chuunin there were even rumors about a romance, although this was never confirmed by any of them. This came to an end however, when Nanako died in combat. The four of them were on a mission when they were ambushed by an enemy. Ruuji and the other two got away, but Nanako didn’t survive. Most people predicted that Ruuji would be sad, but “disappointed” turned out to fit the description much better. Nanako had failed the test after all, and was in Ruuji’s eyes no more than average from that day on. It did lead him to respect strong-willed people however.
When he was seventeen, the massacre against Kekkei Genkai users started. Later in his life, Ruuji would describe this event as one of the most beautiful times of his life. Since Kekkai Genkai users are skilled in general, depending on how adept they are with their Kekkai Genkai, he fought a lot of powerful opponents. It also earned him a lot of respect from the village.
Jounin: Ruuji became a jounin at twenty years age. During this time he had gained a lot of the elders respect for the many missions he successfully finished, and his achievements in the Kekkai Genkai users. He was also noted for his great skill on the battlefield, becoming absorbed completely in combat. For four years he managed to keep up his reputation. However one day, during another battlefield, Ruuji came across a very powerful opponent, a shinobi-captain of a small resistance group that was against the new Mizukage and her softer approach. The man had been an ANBU, and was very skilled. He managed to win, but becoming so absorbed by combat he ruthlessly killed a number of genin in the process by attacking the enemy even though the genin were clearly in the way. Ruuji was sent to prison for killing his fellow shinobi.
Ruuji was sentenced for ten years. After that, he wouldn’t be allowed to become a shinobi anymore, thus seemingly ending his career. Not all was as it seemed, however. A secret research team, led by an advisor of the Mizukage, a man named Akumo, had started experimenting on shinobi, modifying their bodies in order to give them more power. This team was founded secretly and behind the Mizukage’s back. The goal was to create a group of powerful, modified shinobi that Akumo would use to attempt a Coup de Tat. The research facility was hidden underground, the entrance hidden somewhere in Akumo’s mansion.
In order to gain test subjects, Akumo would bribe several corrupt prison guards. These prison guards would smuggle prisoners to the research facility. There, the prisoners would be locked in another cell not much bigger than their old one, the only moment they would leave being when they were required for testing. Ruuji was among these prisoners. After doing various experiments on him, Ruuji had gained a more lizard-like appearance, with a pale skin, yellow eyes and an extendable tongue. He also had four arms and a tail.
After the experiments, the researchers placed Ruuji in a small arena together with three jounin-leveled shinobi who had also undergone various body-altering experiments. This was to test which modification was the most effective. The four nin were to have a free for all fight to the death. Ruuji was the only survivor, and thus the most successful experiment. The researchers continued testing Ruuji, watching his progress. Ruuji quickly developed an own fighting style that involved using taijutsu and ninjutsu at the same time. It also allowed him to cast jutsu much quicker, as handseals are done twice as fast with four hands.
As long as Ruuji was allowed to fight, he had no reason to complain. It didn’t take long for the researchers to create a new, improved method of altering bodies.. A few weeks after receiving his new body , Ruuji was told that he would return to the prison because the researchers needed a new test subject, and he was basically outdated. Refusing to go back to boring prison life, Ruuji killed the ten researchers and fled the hidden village itself. On his way out, Ruuji mercilessly killed any shinobi that tried to stop him, no matter what rank they were. In total, about thirty people were killed, ten researchers and twenty shinobi, a combination of genin, chuunin and jounin. His actions were not all bad, however, as when the village’s shinobi followed Ruuji trail of destruction, they discovered the research facility hidden in Akumo’s mansion. Akumo himself wasn’t present during Ruuji’s outbreak. He and everyone linked to the group were arrested and sent to jail.
Missing-nin: Ruuji was branded a missing-nin for his actions, and started traveling the Shinobi world looking for powerful opponents. He would usually seek out places that were going through war, offering his services. Although some places refused to employ a rogue ninja, Ruuji got a decent amount of jobs, allowing him to experience the thrill of battle once more. He became quite renown in a short time, as his abilities on the battlefield were remarkable.

Trouble was heading for Sunagakure no Sato. The village’s massive cliff walls could be seen rising from the desert from miles away. These walls provided the village with both protection and security. From these high walls, patrolling shinobi would be able to see anyone who was closing in on the village from miles away, making it nearly impossible to sneak up on it. Nearly, that is. Granted, on a clear, pleasant evening like this traveling above the surface would make one completely visible to anyone standing on Suna’s walls. Above the surface, that is. Unknown to the sentries patrolling the cliffs, a threat closed in on Suna, moving towards the village from under the dunes. It was Rainen. Using Doton to travel underground, he was closing in on the village quickly. This technique was one of Rainen’s favorites. It took surprisingly little chakra yet it could be used in more ways than can be counted on two hands.
Rainen had a plan. A plan to start a war between Oto and Suna. He had been plotting to destroy his former village for two years. To this end he had joined the Akatsuki, a powerful organization composed of some of the world’s most dangerous criminal shinobi. Deadly as this group was, however, S-ranked criminal named Rainen wasn’t satisfied. The organizations had other priorities than the destruction of Oto, and Rainen couldn’t wait for them to finish those. He was impatient. He would set in motion the engine of the Sound’s destruction himself! Otogakure no Sato was a mighty village nowadays, having defeated both Iwagakure and Kumogakure in its rise to power. Rainen knew that. He had contributed to those victories himself! He had been fighting on the front lines in the war versus Kumogakure no Sato. Yes, Oto was strong, therefore it needed a strong enemy. Sunagakure had recently opened its gates to missing-nin looking for a second chance. Even outside of Akatsuki, there were a lot of incredibly powerful missing-nin walking around in the shinobi world. Some of which indeed heeded the Kage’s call. These shinobi greatly added to Suna’s military power, making it the perfect enemy against Oto
In the meantime, Rainen had reached Suna and was now traveling underneath the walls. As soon as he popped up at the other side of it, standing behind a tall building, he instantly performed a quick, one handed seal. All that was required for the simple Transformation Technique. In an instant the young man in the Akatsuki cloak with his blue hair was transformed in an entirely other person. A man in his thirties with blonde, short hair and a scar on his chin. He wore the typical Otogakure outfit and an Otogakure headband. In this disguise, the plan was to damage the village and raise hell, then retreat before he would get caught. But he would make sure people would get a clear glimpse of his Otogakure headband. That would pit Suna against Otogakure. And with hints about an allegiance soon, so would Akatsuki…
He was going to use as little chakra as possible, however. There was a chance he might get into a fight against an equal opponent, maybe even the new Kage himself. In that case, he would need all his chakra. Luckily both Underground Submarine Voyage and Transformation were very chakra-efficient so Rainen’s chakra reserves were as good as full. And with that, Rainen dashed off. To the kage building he went. The best way to start a war was to attempt an assassination on the new Kazekage, or Dezatokage as he apparently changed the name of the rank. Of course all he would do was attempt assassination with one attack and retreat afterwards.
And so, after sneaking through the village trying to find the most abandoned route he could take, silencing the occasional lonely civilian by slitting their throat with a kunai before they could react, the disguised Rainen had reached the Kage building. He didn’t mind the trail of blood he had left behind. Someone would come across it soon enough, but that was fine. He WANTED to be discovered. Just not before he had staged his assassination-attempt on the Dezatokage.
Now came the moment. He had to be quick. He had to reach the kage building’s balcony, the one that leaded to the Dezatokage’s office. However going in from the inside would definitely get him spotted with the abundance of shinobi crawling around in there. So his best option was to scale the building’s wall using chakra to maintain his grip while walking vertically. However that, too, would leave him with a risk of getting caught. Just as Rainen was considering other idea’s, he heard a distant scream. A woman’s scream. Someone had discovered one of the corpses. Rainen smiled. He owed that woman a thanks. Now the attention of every shinobi in the village would be directed to the source of this scream. No one would watch the Kage building! So Rainen dashed. With speed typical to an S-rank melee specialist but insane for a normal human and impressive, though traceable, to a jounin’s trained eyes, Rainen dashed up the building. He didn’t waste a single second, gratefully using the woman’s diversion to its fullest.
And landed on the balcony to the Kage’s office. Now for the assassination attempt and he would be out of here in an instant. Rainen had barely landed or he opened op a summoning scroll making a swarm of kunai burst through the window that led to the Kage’s office. Some of the kunai had explosive tags attached to them, and the explosions would immediately alert the village, as well as increasing the killing potential of the attack. Of course Rainen didn’t expect someone powerful enough to hold the position of Kage to die that easily, but the added killing power made the assassination attempt look more believable, making it seem like the assassin really tried.
