Personality: Calm, distant, and kind are words that can be used to describe Van. Odd for an Akatsuki member. He is usually seen not talking or smiling, giving him the appearance of being cold but he's actually very nice. When members mess up, he will go out of his way to help them. Even with enemies, he shows generosity by giving the opponent a chance to run away instead of fight. With Jinchuuriki, Van will offer reasoning as an alternative to using force, but always ends up fighting anyhow. 
 
All this niceness means nothing though during a fight. Van then becomes emotionless, doing what needs to be done to accomplish his goals for Akatsuki. He is very devoted to the Akatsuki and its leader, and will not stand for any disrespect or threat to it. In his eyes, Akatsuki is perfect, and anyone who opposes it is ignorant. Van lastly, when comfortable, likes chasing girls a lot. He loves woman-kind almost as much as Akatsuki and hates womanizers. He describes himself as a gentleman and helps any girl he sees who is trouble. The Akatsuki Leader apparently has Van's complete admiration. In contrast to this love of women, Van has a large disdain for mankind. He doesn't have ill will towards any specific men, but rather hates men in general.

Genin Arc:
Van's life was boring. So very boring. An uneventful life is all Van had leading up to his becoming a Genin. Normal birth...normal parents...normal childhood...normal Academy grades. So far, it seemed his Genin life would be no different. His Jounin squad leader was a Chunin with no exceptional jutsu or no fearful name to him. His male squad member was a dunce, more annoying than comical. The female in his group wasn't even all too attractive. Of course, he didn't see himself as high and mighty either. He was a punk with a habit for getting into trouble. Van never had any drive to pay attention to his teachers' lessons and he passed the Academy by cheating. All this was an attempt to make life more interesting. Missions were rather boring too. Like finding cats or helping deliver letters. THis boring life was made more depressive by eternal shroud of mist over the village. Van couldn't even see what life was like out of the village. He hoped that by becoming a Chunin, he'd get out-of-village missions, and with that as his goal, he trained hard for the Chunin Exams, but just barely passed it.

Chunin Arc:
Van was wrong. So very wrong. His Chunin career was 10 times worse. As he became a Chunin, his first mission was to help the Kage with paperwork. He was stuck in an office 24/7 and was bored out of his mind. The only thing he looked forward to each day was the end, when he had to turn in the paperwork to the Mizukage, and was able to chat with her for a couple minutes. She seemed just as bored as him yet she held a deep sense of pride for the village. Van admired her greatly and worked very hard so he could finish work faster and get a longer time to talk to her. After a while, knowing how bored Van was, she assigned Van in the ANBU, finally giving him the chance to leave and see the outside world.

ANBU Arc:
Van made a mistake. A very large mistake. His mistake was believing that the world outside the village was wonderful. It was a simple mission, to keep surveillance on a foreign lord who was believed to be double crossing Kirigakure. Along the way, Van witnessed nothing but violence and stealing. He couldn't understand how people could sleep at night knowing the terrible things they did. While spying on their target, they quickly confirmed his treachery. He was selling their secrets to the highest bidder of dirty criminals. With that money he gave himself more power and bought women, defiling them and then killing them. After a month, their mission was to report their findings to the Mizukage. But Van couldn't let this man continue to live. He broke away from his group and violently killed the the lord. Having sabotaged the mission, the ANBU proceeded to arrest Van but he escaped after lightly injuring them. Van was classified as a rouge ninja the next day, for assassinating a lord.

Missing nin and Akatsuki Arc: Van's choice. It was the right one. He questioned his descision for a couple days but soon realized that, he wasn't a missing nin, he was a free shinobi. Van took advantage of this by travelling throughout the world. He found that it truly was a wonderful world, only inhabited by evil people. Those who were truly good people were stepped on and bullied. So for a couple of years, Van became a vigilante for hire. He charged only the amount of money that he would need to buy an inexpensive dinner, and in return assualted, blackmailed, and murdered the corrupt. He felt good, knowing he was slowly purifying the world. In time, the name of an organization caught his ear, and he joined quickly after hearing their motives. Peace. Surely Akastuki could create this. After weeks of gathering information, he found and confronted the leader of the organization. She was a beautiful red head not much older than himself. She was rather emotionless, but after some coercing agreed to let Van join. He now was living happily and had an objective. To help this black robed group reach their ultimate goal of world domination.

I like your diction and it was a very interesting background but there is one thing that you must explain.

Have you ever heard the saying "One does not walk into..." Blah blah blah, I forgot the rest. My point is that you finished your History without saying how you got into the Akatsuki. I'm not trying to be 'That' guy but I just want you to specify so our other admins could agree on this as well. Just make up a fake, 3 sentenced or more, story on how the Akatsuki leader let you enter. Remember it is only this part, I approve of the rest.
