personality: Near is a very cold, callous, dispassionate figure, and is rather aloof, brooding, and indifferent, willing to harm both his comrades and enemies should they ever get in his way. He refers to anyone he does not find interesting as "trash" and treats them as expendable. Despite this, he is not particularly violent, unlike most of his Ninja comrades, and will only fight when provoked or ordered to by his Kage.

Near has a strange habit of killing victims he is particularly interested in by stabbing them with his bare hand. Whether he is consciously aware of this habit or not is unknown. During a speech to the Hokage, he claims he cannot believe in human emotions, which he refers to as the "heart", reasoning that if his eye cannot see them, then they do not exist. These words, and much of Near’s overall behavior, can lead one to assume that he is a firm believer in the concept of materialism, which also connects to his aspect of death as an ninja, nihilism. It would appear that as a result of his isolated life as a lonely ninja. Near does not understand feelings and emotions as well as empathetic characters like others tend to. His overall behavior towards his allies and enemies, as well as his apparently self-inflicted habit of stabbing people in the chest, may symbolize that fact. In the last seconds of his life, he seemed to have finally found his own "heart" and understand feelings.

His cold demeanor allows him to stay completely calm and in control in most situations, and he is not easy surprised or caught off-guard.

Bio: Cooma didn’t have parents, they abandoned him at an orphanage when he was two years old, and it took another year at the orphanage before someone came and took him home. This man, Oma, was a Buddhist monk, and some say a guru for those who lose themselves, he took the young Cooma to a monastery high up in the hills of Hi no kuni were he taught the boy of the world, until he was old enough to join the academy. The man, Oma sent Cooma back to Iwa to join their ninja academy were he would learn the various techniques and abilities to help the village. As time wore on, Cooma came to realize that amongst the other students there, he was by far the loneliest. This lead him to develop resentment towards his classmates, and when he graduated the academy he soon learned that his teammates, we’re just like all the others. But he stuck with it, they were a team, and soon enough they became friends for the most part. After training every day he would return to the monastery to listen to Oma talk to the other monks, or talk to people who sought his advice. This is when Cooma found what Oma was, a guru or spiritual advisor of their time. He was named the Taulkû, which meant the finder of secret ways, and for the most part he helped people find their paths. That is until he fell ill. Oma had gotten some weird kind of disease that targets his heart, giving it increased strain and greater risk of a heart attack. The medical ninja in Kiri weren’t able to find a cure, which is what Cooma hated, and so he swore to Oma that he would force himself through the studying and training and find a way to save him.

It was a year to the day when Cooma had passed the Chunin selection exam and gone under the tutelage of a medical ninja, that Oma passed away. His last words, were written ones, a letter to Cooma, the letter told him that he cannot give up and that he must stick with his training, for one day the world would count on him. Cooma took this to heart and stuck with it, pushing himself harder then he could have before, almost to exhaustion. He became sort of sarcastic to others around him, for he wanted precision and control, striving only for the best which is what shaped his outlook on life. Soon enough though he found himself a rival, by the name of Sumi, and she was a one of a kind. She pushed Cooma to think differently, and pushed him to have a goal, just to beat her, to prove he was better, she gave him back purpose and also gave him the notion of making money, via renting himself out to women who needed a nightly companion or a dinner escort or even a relaxing massage. Well this lead on to be something entirely different, and now he has gotten to were he bases his life around this side of his nature

As he grew he was promoted to Jounin, after a horrible mission left him the only survivor. Though its a common rumor that he was the cause. As he grew closer to his kage, he became his bodyguard. Gaining all the perks and benefits of begging bodyguard which he uses constantly togain free stuff around the village. Though he learns from his Kage andis taking notes on different fighting styles putting them to the testagainst his own Kage, to gain more strength and experience.
